What is an ecosystem for open innovation?
The existence of an innovation ecosystem is important for creating innovation. Here, an innovation ecosystem is defined as a system in which existing companies, venture companies, universities, research institutes, financial institutions, governments, and public institutions work closely together to create new innovations accepted by society. It means a system that creates new value and implements it in society through new markets with growth potential.
In particular, universities, which play a role in creating new sources of knowledge, implement research results in society through open innovation with other institutions, so an innovation ecosystem is indispensable. Therefore, at the Open Innovation (OI) Platform, we will promote the construction of this innovation ecosystem as an important project for improving the environment, just like promoting organization-to-organization industry-university collaboration activities.
The essence of the ecosystem construction business is the construction of a human network. Because building a new value chain is required to bring about innovation, and in order to create a new value chain, it is vital to build a human network that will serve as the foundation.
A human network of people who share the common goal of creating new markets through open innovation is useful. The OI Platform will provide an environment for building human networks through various events. Representative events held by OI Organization for human networks are listed in the attached table.
In order to make the ecosystem construction project sustainable, the OI Platform has launched the Ecosystem construction project as a sponsorship project from FY2022. At the end of 2022, we are currently receiving support from six companies listed in our organization. As the scale of the ecosystem expands, the need for financial support will continue to grow. By all means, we hope that many people will understand the purpose and function of this ecosystem business, and support the ecosystem together as part of the support project.
