In today’s society, addressing global challenges requires not only individual technologies and specialized knowledge, but also greater interdisciplinary collaboration and stronger partnerships among academia, industry, and government. By integrating a broad spectrum of research fields—including medicine, science, and engineering—through the merger of its predecessor institutions, Institute of Science Tokyo is committed to tackling pressing societal challenges and establishing itself as a hub for an innovation ecosystem that will support the society of the future.

This event is organized to foster meaningful exchange among representatives from industry, academia, and government, with the aim of promoting sustainable collaboration and generating innovations that contribute to societal development.

He specializes in advanced metallic materials for safe and sustainable nuclear energy systems. His research focuses on improving the corrosion resistance, high-temperature strength, and long-term reliability of nuclear fuel cladding and reactor structural materials under harsh operating environments.
He also develops high-performance materials for severe accident mitigation and radioactive waste treatment, contributing to safer and more resilient zero-carbon energy technologies.

EnergyTackling Nuclear Waste with Liquid Metals: Lead accel Inc., a Startup from Institute of Science Tokyo, and Its Vision for the Social Implementation of ADS Transmutation(Tentative)

At the Institute of Science Tokyo, we are conducting research on accelerator-driven subcritical systems (ADS) that utilize nuclear waste as fuel, building on our expertise in liquid heavy-metal technologies. We will also introduce our vision for the social implementation of this technology through collaboration with Lead accel Inc., founded in 2025 as the 20th university-certified startup of the Institute of Science Tokyo.
