Science Tokyo participated in the WIPO GREEN Technology Forum 2026, held on June 5, 2026, as a partner of the WIPO GREEN network. At the forum, Tsubame BHB Co., Ltd., a company participating in Science Tokyo’s “Tsubame BHB Green Ammonia Collaborative Research Cluster”, delivered a presentation. Tsubame BHB is a deep-tech startup originating from Science Tokyo, whose innovative ammonia synthesis technology is based on a group of materials centered on inorganic electrides developed through the research of Professor Emeritus Hideo Hosono and Professor Masaaki Kitano.
The forum was organized to promote international technology matching that contributes to solving environmental challenges by connecting advanced environmental technologies possessed by Japanese companies and universities with the specific needs of companies, universities, research institutions, and government agencies in the Asia-Pacific region, particularly India and ASEAN countries, as well as the Middle East and Africa.
The event was held in a hybrid format, both at Akasaka Intercity Conference and online. The venue was filled to capacity, and approximately 900 participants from around the world joined the forum, including online attendees, demonstrating the strong international interest in the event.

At the forum, Ms. Aya Ito of Tsubame BHB Co., Ltd. gave a presentation in English entitled “Distributed Green Ammonia.”
In her presentation, she introduced:
- The company’s journey as a deep-tech startup originating from Science Tokyo;
- Its innovative catalyst and process technologies; and
- Its flexible, small-scale distributed ammonia production process.
She also presented the company’s business development efforts aimed at overseas markets. Through the English presentation, participants gained an understanding of the social significance of the technology and its future potential.
Through participation in this event, we once again recognized the importance of international technology deployment and global technology matching, while also gaining a valuable opportunity to showcase outstanding technologies developed by Science Tokyo startups to audiences around the world.
We would like to express our sincere appreciation to everyone at Tsubame BHB Co., Ltd. for their extensive preparations for the presentation. We also extend our gratitude to Professor Emeritus Hideo Hosono, Professor Masaaki Kitano, and all others who have contributed to the creation and advancement of this technology.
We would further like to thank the WIPO Japan Office for providing us with this opportunity to participate in the forum.
We will continue to utilize international networks such as WIPO GREEN to support the social implementation of research outcomes and the global expansion of startups. Through promoting technology matching among academia, industry, and government, we will continue contributing to the international deployment of environmental technologies.
